Stacey Solomon attempts bricklaying, plumbing and gets 'on the tools' for new DIY show

Singer and television personality Stacey Solomon will present a new DIY show to give viewers “easy and helpful” tips to makeover their homes themselves.

The 2009 X Factor finalist in 2009 and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winner will front her new show, called "Bricking It", on Channel 4.

Channel 4 says the show, produced by Reese Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine, will hit the screens soon.

What is 'Bricking It' about?

The Loose Women presenter will come to the rescue of homeowners who have been left high and dry by builders, endured bad experiences with a house restoration, or whosehouse renovation costshave run dry.

Showrunners say Stacey, 33, will show homeowners how simple, satisfying, and cost-effective it can be to pick up a power tool anddo the work themselves.

She will get her hands dirty to help them with bricklaying, basic plumbing, roof-tiling, and more as they transform their home without the help of professionals.

Stacey said, “From an early age, my dad taught me DIY and the importance of fixing things yourself where you can. I still find it so satisfying to build or repair around the house and it saves loads of money. I am beyond excited to work with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine on their first ever UK project.

“They are all about empowering women, and what could be more empowering than a power tool?! It’s a dream come true to share my DIY hacks with everyone at home.”

How is Reese Witherspoon involved?

The series will be produced by Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon, Sara Rea and Sarah Lazenby.

Hello Sunshine was founded by Witherspoon and aims to puts women at the centre of every show. It produced the film Where The Crawdads Sing and launched a UK-based unscripted division last year.

'Bricking It' was commissioned by Channel 4 senior commissioning editor Clemency Green, who said: “Stacey has a natural talent for making a house a home. She is perfectly placed to show all of us that with a few clever tips we can all have a go at DIY and make our homes beautiful on a budget.”
