Should I Buy an Air Conditioner Instead?
Air conditioners can be practical and effective ways of keeping cool during the rising summer temperatures, but should you opt for an air conditioner over a fan?
Air conditioning units have a relatively high efficiency rating, but tend to have high running costs compared to a fan. As uncomfortably hot weather is unusual in the UK, it might be more cost-effective to purchase a fan if you only find you need to use it a couple of times a year.
But, if your house is prone to overheating and fans don't seem to do the job, then air conditioning is well worth considering.
